Privacy Policy
How Taive handles your information — plainly, so you know exactly what happens to your data and your customers’ data.
Last updated: 25 October 20261. Who we are
Taive (“Taive”, “we”, “us”) provides a voice-first order book for tailors and fashion brands, available as a mobile app and this website. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have.
For any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at [email protected]. For the purposes of data protection law, Taive is the controller of the account and usage data described in this policy. For the customer and order information you enter, you (the business) are the controller and Taive acts as your processor, handling that data on your instructions.
2. Information we collect
Your account and business profile
When you sign up and set up your business, we collect your name and email (through email/password, Google or Apple sign-in), your business phone number, your business address (street, city, state, and country), and your logo if you upload one.
Data you enter about your customers and orders
Taive is a tool for running your business, so most data in the app is data you add: your customers’ names, phone numbers, addresses, and notes; their measurements; and the orders you create — including garment descriptions, photos and style references, prices, payments, invoices, and your fabric and material inventory.
When you enter your customers’ details, you are responsible for having a proper basis to do so and, where required, for telling them their information is stored in a tool like Taive.
Voice recordings and notebook photos
If you use voice capture or scan a notebook page, we collect the audio recording or photo you make so we can turn it into an order. These may contain personal details such as customer names, phone numbers, and measurements. See AI processing below for how this works.
Information collected automatically
To keep the app reliable and improve it, we collect a device notification token (so we can send you alerts), anonymous product-usage events (for example, that an order was created — never the order’s contents), and crash and error diagnostics when something goes wrong.
Cookies and this website
This website uses only cookies that are strictly necessary for it to function. It does not use tracking or advertising cookies, and it does not profile you as you browse.
3. How we use your information
- To provide the order book — creating and managing orders, customers, measurements, invoices, payments, and inventory.
- To sync your data across your devices and keep the app working offline.
- To transcribe your voice recordings and read your notebook photos into order details using AI.
- To send you reminders, notifications, and — when you choose to — WhatsApp messages to your customers (these open in WhatsApp on your own device).
- To generate invoices and other documents.
- To keep the service secure, reliable, and to understand which features work well so we can improve them.
Our legal bases
We process your data on the following legal bases:
- To perform our contract with you — running your account and the orders, customers, measurements, invoices, payments, and inventory you use the service for, and syncing them across your devices.
- Our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure and reliable and improving it — crash and error diagnostics and anonymous product-usage analytics.
- Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time — voice and notebook AI capture, and push notifications.
- Legal obligations, where the law requires us to process or retain certain data.
4. How your data is stored and synced
Taive is offline-first. Your data lives on your device and syncs securely to our cloud database when you have a connection, so you can keep working without signal. Data is encrypted in transit. Files such as photos, invoices, and captures are kept in private storage and are only ever shown through short-lived, signed links — there are no public URLs to your files.
Each business’s data is isolated from every other business at the database level.
5. AI processing
Your voice recordings and notebook photos — and the order details extracted from them — are sent to our third-party AI provider, Google (the Gemini API), so we can convert them into orders. This may include personal data such as customer names, phone numbers, and measurements. This provider processes the data under its own terms and retention practices. If you prefer not to have this data processed by AI, you can enter orders manually instead of using voice or notebook capture.
6. Who we share data with
We do not sell your data. We share it only with the service providers that make Taive work, each acting on our behalf:
We may also disclose data if required by law, to protect our rights, or as part of a business transfer, in which case we’ll let you know.
7. International transfers
Some of our providers process data on servers outside your country, including outside Nigeria and the UK/EU. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as Standard Contractual Clauses (with the UK Addendum/IDTA for UK data) or transfers to countries recognised as providing adequate protection. You can request details of the safeguard used by emailing us.
8. How long we keep your data
We keep your business data for as long as your account is active.
When you delete your account, we delete your sign-in identity straight away, so nobody can sign in to it again. We delete the rest of your data — your customers, measurements, orders, photos, payments, invoices and inventory — within 60 days. Until then it is hidden and not used, so that you have time to ask us for a copy. If you would rather it went sooner, email [email protected] after deleting your account and we will delete it straight away. We may keep records the law requires us to keep, such as payment and tax records, and backups are cleared on our normal backup cycle.
To ask for a copy of your data, or to have it deleted, email [email protected].
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live — including under the Nigeria Data Protection Act and, for UK/EU users, the UK GDPR and GDPR — you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete your data (“right to be forgotten”).
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
- Object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent where processing is based on it.
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) or, in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
To exercise any of these rights, contact [email protected]. Note that for your customers’ data, you — the business — are the controller; direct any customer requests about that data to us and we’ll help you respond.
10. Security
We protect your data with encryption in transit, private file storage accessed only through signed links, and strict per-business isolation in our database. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and to fix issues quickly.
11. Children
Taive is a tool for businesses and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Taive evolves. When we make material changes, we’ll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
